Me and My Parrot- Frida Kahlo

-1941
-Her father taught her photography, including how to retouch and color prints, and one of his friends gave her drawing lessons. In 1922, the 15-year-old Kahlo entered the elite, predominantly male NationalPreparatory School, which was located near the Cathedral in the heart of Mexico City.
-Frida is well known as one of the most influential artists of all time let alone amongst women.
-The reason I chose Frida Kahlo for my final was because of her theme of nature. She often painted scenes of her in nature with animals. The reason I chose "Me and My Parrot" was because i like birds and wanted to try my hand at sculpting one.
My Parrot and I- Emmett Gainey

- For this creation I mainly used my hands and sculpted each body part seperatly. But the most notable techniue was relief carving in order to create the texture of feathers
- One challenge I faced whilst creating this was my first prototype, which was larger and could not be fired. So I had to start over.
- The main succes of this piece in my eyes is the glazing, before I knew the proper techique for glazing I ruined many a piece.
-Glazes-
- candy apple, -Emerald, -Milk Chocolate, -Lemon, -Tuxedo Black, and -eggshell white.
